Sentergroup is thrilled to announce that our very own, Michelle Goldberg, Executive Director of The Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders, Association of Women Surgeons, and Association of Women Surgeons Foundation, has recently earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE®) designation from the American Society for Association Executives (ASAE). The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry.

In her role as Executive Director for IONL, AWS, and AWSF, Michelle has contributed to the engagement and growth of client membership by implementing strategic plans and overseeing day-to-day operations. She is adamant about communicating the purpose, goals, and achievements of her client’s organizations every day. Her commitment to the association management profession has not gone unnoticed, as she was recently recognized with the Forty Under 40® award for being one of forty up-and-coming association professionals who are under the age of 40 by the Association Forum of Chicagoland.

Goldberg started at Sentergroup in 2014 as an account coordinator and quickly rose to an executive director position within two years. Michelle’s previous work experience, including five years with nonprofits like Teen Living Programs and the Foundation for Sustainable Development, has provided her a strong foundation of organizational and planning skills, which she applies daily to her client work at Sentergroup.

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have a minimum of three years’ experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 4,200 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential. The CAE Program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

ASAE is a membership organization of 39,000 association executives and industry partners representing 7,400 organizations. Its members manage leading trade associations, individual membership societies and voluntary organizations across the United States and in nearly 50 countries around the world.
