CHICAGO, October 16, 2017 – The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and AWS Foundation select Sentergroup, Inc., the Chicago-based management company of association experts, for full-service association management.
Founded in 1981, AWS is a not-for-profit educational and professional organization with a mission to inspire, encourage, and enable women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals, from medical school through retirement. With over 2,000 members, AWS is one of the largest organizations dedicated to women surgeons. Truly an international organization, AWS has members in 21 countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland, and the U.S, among others.
The AWS Foundation, founded by AWS leaders in 1994, funds fellowships, research awards, and scholarships that advance the careers of women surgeons and recognizes those individuals who are supportive of the AWS mission.
Christine Laronga, MD, FACS, AWS President, welcomed the appointment of Sentergroup.
“The AWS Council was impressed with Sentergroup’s track record of success in bringing about membership growth and financial prosperity to its association clients,” says Laronga. “Under Sentergroup’s management, we aim to grow our membership, both within the United States and internationally; diversify our education and content offerings; achieve greater influence for AWS and AWS Foundation within the surgical arena; and most importantly, bring about more opportunities to empower women surgeons to achieve their professional and personal goals whilst acknowledging the successes of women surgeons.”
Led by Sentergroup team member Michelle Goldberg, who will serve as the executive director for both entities, Sentergroup will provide AWS and AWS Foundation with a complete association management solution, encapsulating administration, financial management, membership recruitment and retention, marketing and branding, education and annual meeting management, and infrastructure.
“My Sentergroup colleagues and I are excited to work with AWS and AWS Foundation leadership to further their strategic goals and missions, ultimately bettering the lives and careers of current and future women surgeons,” says Goldberg.
AWS and AWS Foundation bring the Sentergroup client roster to 12 full-service clients and three contract clients.
“We are thrilled to welcome AWS and AWS Foundation to the Sentergroup client family,” says Craig Sondalle, President of Sentergroup. “With our medical association experience and depth of talent, we are poised to deliver on the Sentergroup promise, which is to provide growth and stability, meaningful experiences for members, and the fulfillment of all financial and organizational goals.”
Sentergroup assumed all association management responsibilities for AWS and AWS Foundation on November 1, 2017.
